Mac & Retna mural in Salt Lake City - "AVE MARIA"

Retna and I just painted this mural in Salt Lake City, Utah last week. I think this is the tallest mural either of us has done so far, at about 44 feet height. This was commissioned by FICE. It was a special project for everyone involved. Many thanks to Corey B for making it all possible, and the rest of the cool folks at FICE, OTRA, The guy at the gun shop next door who gave me a beanie and hand warmers, Este Pizza, the lovely Bri Acsani for modeling, and everyone else who was supportive of this in any way. The text in the halo is in Latin, the beginning of the Ave Maria (Hail Mary).

I'm impressed, I admire your work and am fascinated by your murals. My English is pretty bad so I can not express what your picture gives me. Just thank you for what you do. Greetings from Spain

Being a muralist myself I can appreciate the artistry involved. On KSL Retna said that he wanted to do something that had "meaning" but I haven't heard what that meaning is. As it is in a predominantly Mormon community, I am curious. Is it a statement on diversity? (By the way, I am a Mormon currently painting a mural at Ave Maria University.)

I saw this story on the news when you were first working on the mural. I live near Salt Lake and I'm dying to go see the piece in person. Where in Salt Lake is the building? Or could you tell me what it's near? It's incredible I can't wait to check it out
